Rwanda has buried victims of last weekend’s landslide in the country caused by a heavy downpour.
According to official figures, 49 people lost their lives during the landslide which affected 4 districts. The country paid tribute to the victims of the landslide on Tuesday. The Gakenke district, located north of the country was the most hit with 34 deaths.

The event displaced many people who are now homeless, waiting for the intervention of authorities.
“We have lost all, even our crops. We do not know how we are going to insure ourselves. We are in a difficult situation,” a victim cried out.
In all the areas affected, 500 houses were completely destroyed and roads damaged.
A total of 67 people have lost their lives this year as a result of landslides in Rwanda.
